Thunderwolves team up with prostate cancer cause

The Lakehead Thunderwolves are teaming up with local health officials to promote men's health during one of their biggest games this season..

The team will be promoting prostate cancer awareness as they face off against the Windsor Lancers coached by T-wolves ex-coach Pete Beliveau at the Gardens on both Friday and Saturday nights.

During the game Saturday, the Thunderwolves will be wearing unique jerseys that will be auctioned off at the end of the night. Those people taking home a jersey will also have their picture taken with the player and all of the proceeds go to Regional Cancer Care in support of prostate cancer research and patient care at the Regional hospital.

Thunderwolves defenceman Matt Jacques says he pitched the idea because he has lost family members to cancer.

Wildcats get hairy for Movember

WILDCATS fans may be in for a hair-raising spectacle when Perth unveils a secret weapon at home against reigning premiers Brisbane tomorrow night.

Dynamic coach Scott Fisher says fans may struggle to recognise their favourite stars thanks to the group's renewed determination, vigor, matchplay and, oh yeah, a vigorously growing crop of top-lip facial hair.

While the Wildcats have found themselves bouncing about with an extra spring in their steps thanks to glamour guard Brad Robbins, who rallied his teammates to take part in international Movember month and raise awareness of traditional male health taboos - depression and prostate cancer. Vocal fans will notice that their Perth heroes will take to the court with a slightly new look as a result. They've joined thousands of men across the world who are committed to growing their moustaches to raise the profile of these issues.
